Something I was wondering about, and that might fly under our radars for the most part, is that we often forget about the dependencies of technology. In this case, one of them being electricity, our world, materiality, carbon, metals and also, last but not least, the community involved within it.
And by community, I mean forums and people actively working to maintain documentation pages, getting the doubts of other newcomers or even seasoned syadmins and developers out of the way.
It seems, I guess, that technology wouldn’t be so thriving if it weren’t for such a thing like forums, for a place where people could express their concerns and doubts. Of course not every place is perfect, far from that. Sometimes you’ll meet others who may look down on you instead of being more approacheable. But, even so, for the most part, it is through the sense of community and contribution that these things could flourish.
And indeed, we often forget that on the path of a new development and implementation, almost always there were someone, some time, in another place of the world, asking a question. And there would be others willing to look upon them, drag their concerns, take their own time, to give back to the community something.
And even other people, as time went by, would then find these old idiosyncrasies and forgotten pages lying around on the wide web, stumble upon them unto a search half past midnight and marvel them trough a possibility to come up with some change, that could inevitably lead to a solution.
And even more so, we would never even have met these people. But their doubts helped us clear our dobuts, saving us sometimes hours or even days of headaches, and all thanks and due to the progress precipitated by the space of our everlasting forums and community.
A shame, though, to see such places like these, as in: StackOverflow and the like, dying due to the rising of AI. Of course, some would be even more willing to quickly ask a question a get a fast fix they might assert and continue such line of thought than maybe spending hours through scrolling and navigation old forums and issues looking for a probable solution.
Even though, I guess, it is more important than evern, to make ourselves other places, like blogs, and document our findings, even with AI, if that was the case, and we could have reached a conclusion, and make that into a contribution into the far wide web of our world. Maybe, then, I guess, we could keep this spirits alive.
